Aga Khan Education Service, Pakistan requires Chief Executive Officer (Karachi)

Aga Khan Education Service, Pakistan (Reaching Out to Inspire Better Lines!) CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER The Aga Khan Education Service, Pakistan (AKES,P), an agency of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), is one of the largest and oldest private education networks in Pakistan. The portfolio of 185 schools, 5 hostels and educational development programme serves over 50,000 children from diverse and disadvantaged backgrounds in the rural areas of Gilgit-Baitistan and Chitral, peri-urban Sindh & Punjab and Karachi. The CEO will lead and manage AKES,P, reporting to the Board of Directors, through the Chairman. S/he will be responsible for the development and implementation of policies; educational quality and standards; operations and financing; human resource management; communications and public relations. S/he will engender an ethical,' respectful and outcome-oriented organisational culture. S/he will be the direct line manager of the Senior Management Team and liaise closely with volunteers, Government and communities as well as sister AKDN agencies. The CEO will be initially based in Karachi, pending the Central Office move to Islamabad. S/he will be expected to travel widely within Pakistan, as well as internationally. The CEO will be expected to lead the current ambitious Long-term Strategy and organisational change agenda to ensure that AKES,P emerges as an effective not-for-profit education system that provides quality education from pre-school to higher secondary education. The successful candidate will be a seasoned executive; have a Masters Degree in Management; at least 10 years senior management experience and knowledge of the issues and challenges of leading a complex organisation, ideally in the field of education. With a management/consultancy background, S/he will have demonstrated successful dynamic leadership of organisational change and productive relationships with national and international agencies. Successful experience of working in the developing world and with multiple stakeholders will be an asset. The incumbent will have excellent emotional intelligence and verbal & written communication skills in English, with Urdu an advantage. S/he will demonstrate diplomacy and cultural sensitivity and portray a commitment to the ethics of AKDN.
